Lachlan - 8 Months!
What's going on at 8 months?
- Wearing mostly all 12 month clothes, but they are getting snug. Still put him in some 9 month stuff just cause I don't have enough clothes otherwise! Daycare twice has had issues with his clothes being too tight this last week-- one day he came home with no shorts cause said they were cutting into his belly. The other time he came home in something else and they said they couldn't get his onesie buttoned over his diaper.
- Not crawling or appearing to be any closer to it. He will just pivot around while sitting and reach and lay/roll, etc. to get where he needs....or just whine until one of us helps him out.
- Overall just really happy. Enjoys entertaining himself with exploring his toys- still loves to taste everything. Loves books, but only certain ones- Peek-a-Who and Baby Faces still the faves.
- We went to Canada this last month to visit Dustin's family. Af the last minute we decided Lachlan was not going to do well for a 15+ hour car ride, so I flew with him to Detroit where Dustin picked us up and we drove the remaining 5 hours. That was best decision ever made- he did AWESOME on the plane. Both times he slept a good portion of the trip. The only semi-disaster was that he pooped while I had him in the baby carrier in the security line....and when I went to the bathroom to change him, I noticed it leaked out everywhere and was ALL OVER MY SHIRT! Luckily I ran it under some serious water and was able to get most of it out.
- I discovered that Buy Buy Baby is truly wonderful to work with. We had bought our crappy First Years TruFit Recline carseat from there and been using it this last month, but really really really hated it. They actually let me return the carseat and get a much better one- Britax Marathon! This seat was only about $60 more and SOOOOOOOOO worth it.
- Daycare has been an adventure lately. They have decided to move Lachlan up to the next room and this completely caught us off guard cause was much sooner than expected. In a nutshell they have a lot of new babies starting, so they are taking about 4 kids in the baby room and moving them up. We were not impressed with the teacher in this new room - we had many issues with them overfeeding him and not listening to a general schedule we requested. Long story short, the teacher is leaving and one of his teachers from the old room (who we love) is most likely going to take over teaching in the new room. So let's just hope this all works out! We love our daycare for the fact that they always listen to our concerns and work quickly to fix the situation.
- We bought a sippee cup and will give Water sometimes at dinner. It occupies him to play with the cup for a while, but he doesn't drink much out of it. He has much more fun when I let him drink out of a real cup!
- 6:30- Rise and Shine! He just happily plays in his bed waiting for us to come get him. I love going to get him cause he gets a HUGE smile on his face when he sees me.
- 6:30- Takes a 6 oz bottle while we get ready for work...or if is the weekend he'll lay in bed with us and take his bottle.
- 8:30- Oatmeal
- Morning nap for 1.5-2 hours
- 10:30- 6 oz bottle
- 12:00- Fruit or Veggie
- Afternoon nap for 1.5-2 hours
- 2:30- 6 oz bottle
- 5:00- 6 oz bottle (think we will cut this down to more like 3-4 oz)
- 6:15- Fruit or Veggie
- 7:30- Bath
- 8:00- 6 oz bottle (although the last few nights has not been finishing this)

Lachlan - 7 Months
This post is a couple weeks late (once again), but this month has flown by more so than any other! Here are a couple 7-month pictures:
What's Lachlan up to at 7-months old?

Some other random pics I love:

What's Lachlan up to at 7-months old?
- First and foremost, he can now SIT! It only took him a couple days to go from only being able to sit alone for less than a minute before falling over to sitting for 5-minutes or a decent duration to play. (Notice DAD is super paranoid and always wants to surround him with pillows in case he topples)
- He eats some cereal each morning and a fruit/veggie in the evening. We mix about 2 T of dry oatmeal up and he gets about 2 oz. of the fruit/veggie. So far he has liked every single food (as far as we can tell) except for some fresh avocado that I mashed up for him. I think the consistency was just too thick for him compared to his other baby foods. We typically alternate between fruits and veggies to keep mixing up the flavors. So far he has tried squash, green beans, sweet potatoes, peaches, applesauce, pears, avocado.
- He got a new "big boy" carseat, stroller, and bathtub. We have had an insanely long heat wave, so he has barely been able to use the stroller, but seems to love it. I drove myself crazy with researching them and trying to decide if we should buy one where you can add on a doubles kit for when we have another kid...but then decided against that and figured we'll cross that bridge when we get there. So then the next decision was if we spend some money to get a really nice one or not-- we opted to get a cheaper stroller since we aren't sure how long we'll use it for and we primarily use it for walks around our neighborhood which is all on nice pavement. We went with this Jeep Liberty stroller and we LOVE how it pushes. It has a cute steering wheel that Lachlan is intrigued by, and I love the huge basket underneath- it even has a basket underneath the baby's feet to catch any items they drop. The carseat (The First Years True Fit Recline) does not appear to be as big of a hit, but he was ready to outgrow his infant carrier and I thought this would be more comfy giving him more room....but he has fussed A LOT in it this last week. And I HATE loosening and tightening the harness- it is very difficult to reach. We got an inflatable duck tub that we really like- the beak even quacks when you press the button inside it!
- His 2 bottom teeth are really growing! He has been on the fussy side lately and drooling like a fool, so we are guessing that he is getting more teeth.
- The day after he turned 7 months, he had to say bye-bye to his friend Luke who is moving to Florida. It was a sad day :(
- Hopefully this was the worst Father's Day that we ever deal with. Saturday night we had gone to Spooner's (a local ice cream shop) and it was our first time trying it and I LOVED it. However, both Dustin and I got very sick during the night, so we don't know but are thinking we got some sort of food poisoning from this ice cream. It was a miserable way to spend the day! So at an un-eventful moment later, Dustin opened some gifts- grill tools and ties...yes, probably the most generic fathers day gifts one can find!
- We have a new song that is his favorite.....10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!
- He has a few books that are his favorites...and if you try to read any others, he will definitely let you know by starting to cry/whine by page 2. The ones he loves are Baby Faces, Peek-a-Who, and Whooo Loves You.
- Since he seemed no longer interested in the wubbanub, I took that away a couple weeks ago and he's done just fine without it. My mom was here last week and she hung a few toys from his crib- Lachs loves to just look at them and sometimes reach up trying to touch them. The last week or so, he'll spend 10-20 minutes after waking up just nicely playing in his crib.
- Favorite toy is definitely his Jumperoo-- if he's sleepy, he'll still doze off in there. I came home from work last week and my mom and grandma were baby-sitting....and there is Lachlan sound asleep in his jumperoo!
- I love giving Lachlan his bedtime bottle- he's so relaxed laying in my arms, but will reach his arm up to feel my face- he loves grabbing and exploring my nose and mouth. His latest is now he transitioned to reaching up and feeling his own hair. Sometimes he really pulls at it hard, but doesn't seem to bother him. When giving himself his bottle, he loves to get his feet up there and hold the bottle with his feet so his hands can roam feeling other things.
- I've been able to drastically cut down on the pumping cause my supply really tanked when I got sick. Basically I'm just pumping morning and night, so about every 12 hours-- and I am not getting all that much, so am moving to just doing once/day next week and my goal is to completely stop when we go on vacation at the end of the month.

Lachlan - 6 months!
Wow- it is so hard to believe that 6 months has already passed...well, as of June 13 he hit his half-birthday! I seriously can't believe how time has flown by and how quickly he is growing up. These last few weeks here feel like they've been my favorite and I'd give anything to just freeze time here for a while. Before I get into too many details, I gotta share some pics of how extremely cute he is right now...
And EVERYTHING goes in the mouth these days. I didn't get many pics this month cause most of the photoshoot went like this...
6-month checkup
Height/Length: 28.5 inches (96 %-tile)
Weight: 21 lb 15.1 oz (93 %-tile)
Head circumference: 18.1 inches (95 %-tile)
Doctor Notes/Comments: Looking really healthy- don't worry about him being big, it is a good thing and he will probably have some dips in weight later. The doctor actually thought we could give him more ounces each day and not to be afraid to that. Also, continue with the cereal, but start adding in a fruit/veggie 1x/day. Try to wash his teeth/gums 3x/day- can just use a little washcloth for it. Lachlan got his shots- he screamed for probably 15 seconds when he got them, but settled down super quickly and was a-okay then.
What Lachlan is up to?
I love how that tongue is always poking out-
I love this- bounced himself asleep in his chair. Sock is hanging off, blanket is tossed across the face, his arm is stuck through his rings...and fast asleep.
This is his wubbanub we let him sleep with. We really probably should just take it away from him cause as you can see he loves putting the pacifier in his mouth in all sorts of ways except how he should suck on it.
Yum....tags....
My best business attire...

What Lachlan is up to?
- Loves smiling and laughing-- Dad is still the best at getting him to laugh really hard. It just makes me so happy when I see him in a good mood...if only he could be like this 100% of the time!
- Loves playing in his jumparoo, going crazy in his bouncy chair kicking his legs bouncing himself- almost to the point where it looks like he's getting whiplash, and rolling around on his activity gym
- Loves us singing to him....still Wheels on the Bus, Itsy Bitsy Spider, and Down by the Bay are his faves.
- Loves finding the tags on toys and licking them and putting them in his mouth. I call him a kitty-cat everything I see him doing the licking thing!
- He is not as into the black/white book anymore, but is starting to moreso like colorful books. Peek-a-Whoo holds his attention best.
- Made his first trip to the pool! He found it very relaxing and even fell asleep in his raft!
- We've kinda figured out napping a little better-- still don't have a set schedule, but I'm much better at reading his queues or knowing when he should go down based on his sleep that day. He goes down pretty well most of the time in his crib. We give him his Wubbanub (pacifier with monkey attached). Lately I've figured out that if I just Shhhhhh him and rub his back for a short time, it will completely relax him enough that he'll then fall asleep immediately when I leave the room.
- Started doing oatmeal every night the week he turned 6 months. He seems to really love it and always finishes the whole bowl.
- He also got the worst diaper rash we'd ever seen. He normally doesn't get rashes, but this one has been so bad that we've transferred him to disposable diapers nonstop for the entire week so we can use creams. We've been using Lotrimin AF twice a day and seems to have really helped.
- Gave him his first bite of real food-- we were at Sno Biz (shaved ice stand), so I sucked off most the flavoring and gave him little tastes....I think it was just so cold that it shocked him cause he'd make a face each time, but then want more.
- He had his last PAT visit until they resume in the fall schoolyear. He was doing outstanding really in all categories. Things he is doing are picking up large objects with both hands, will transfer object between hands, has started to sometimes look for objects if it goes out of his sight, doesn't like to be left alone in the room/notices we are gone, beginning to make crawling motions (he will draw his knees in to his chest and kinda scoot or rock back and forth), squealing, and some more things I can't remember.
- He went to the doctor shortly after turning 5 months to have the doctor examine his head shape since there was a flat spot on the back left side we've been trying to get rid of. I was hoping since he had started rolling and not sleeping on it anymore that it would be better, but she still had a little concern over it and said she'd check again at 6 month appt. At the 6 month appt she thought it looked MUCH better- still not 100% clear, but said it is probably not going to be an issue.
- The week before he turned 6 months Dustin happened to feel inside his mouth and discovered 2 bottom teeth!! We were so excited and could reach in and definitely feel them- the one on his left was really up, so it had been there quite a while without us noticing. Everytime we tried to pull down his lip and look, he just would take his tongue and cover it up- did not want us to get a peak at them for a few days!
- Mostly wearing 9 month clothing- nearly all of his outfits are Carter's cause I just find them easy to buy/find and are a decent price...and seem soft/comfy! We just bought a bunch of stuff and bought it all in 12 month size cause the stuff we have is none too big!
- We are trying to work with him on sitting up, but he pretty much topples over within a few seconds of letting go.
- Wakes around 6am- many mornings he doesn't instantly cry, but will play with the feets for a while in bed or talk to himself. Very fun to watch and listen to while I lay in bed!
- He lounges in the bathroom while we get ready for work. Hurry up and put him in the car and he gets his first bottle at daycare.
- He is getting a little more consistent with naps which is very helpful. He is taking a good morning nap around 8am- usually for 1-1.5 hours. He then takes another good nap around 11ish. And then just does a short nap later in the afternoon.
- Typically drinks about 6 6oz bottles/day still- 4 of those usually at daycare and his last 2 at home. Sometimes he'll do 7 oz in some of the bottles. The week he turned 6 months we started doing oatmeal in the evenings each night- he seems to really enjoy it, so we plan to keep up doing food in the evenings!
- We usually pick him up from daycare around 5:30, so once we get home we try to hurry up and change clothes and eat. While we eat, then Lachlan can feed himself his bottle - that is working out very nicely!
- Since it's been so hot, we are stuck to indoor activities, so we just play around with a variety of things for a while. Between about 7:15-7:30 we start the nightly bath and then is off to bed!
- I LOVE giving him his night bottle cause he loves to just lay on his side facing me and snuggle his body into me....although it is REALLY HOT when he does this! He then will reach his arm up and just plays with my face the whole time- I just love it! Knock on wood- we've gone several weeks with him sleeping through the night now too!

Lachlan Photos- 5.5 months
Hi, here are just a few pics since I've been too busy/lazy to post much!
His little smile just melts my heart when he looks at me like this...

I don't know what we would do without our video monitor- I just LOVE sneaking peeks of him sleeping! He loves finding the corner of the crib and then wrapping his feets and arms around the crib slats to hold onto.
He loves playing on his activity mat cause there are so many objects that intrigue him. It's almost like I can see his brain working as he tries to figure out cause/effect. He loves rolling around the whole mat and off of it.

Mother's Day
I had originally asked for the Saturdaybefore mother's day to do something special-- nothing big, but just wanted to do something fun that day rather than our usual weekend chores. However, we've been waiting months to get a water softener installed and Saturday was the day the guy could do it. So Dustin spent most of Saturday helping the guy install this thing while I attempted to entertain Lachlan who was NONSTOP fussing. We finally called the doctor cause thought he must be teething even though I couldn't feel anything coming through. So we started giving him tylenol every 4 hours and I bought some teething rings for the fridge-- none seemed to help. Unfortunately it was just not the weekend I had imagined and how my first mothers day would be...but hey, guess that's what happens sometimes!
So on Sunday I decided we'd make some waffles for breakfast since it is very rare we ever cook anything for breakfast anymore. So that was really my big mothers day treat, which I made mostly myself and then had to chow down in 2 minutes so then could entertain the little fusser. Fortunately he seemed to feel better as the day went on.

Here's a pic from later in the day when he was in a perfect mood (always does that when we are around other people so they think we are crazy) :
I love his daycare and they were so sweet to make a little mothers day project. It was funny cause I noticed last Wednesday night that his pinky toenail was green and was so confused...however, now it all makes sense!
So in the end, nothing really went as planned, but at the end of the day couldn't imagine having a more perfect (in his own way) or cute little son!!
