Mardi Gras

So this weekend was the big Mardi Gras celebration! I was sort of originally dreading it this year because they were calling for it to be so cold. However, I dressed in all sorts of layers and I didn't even get cold! I guess 3 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, 180s, hat, gloves, mittens, warm coat, toe warmers, and hand warmers will help! We started out the morning at our place and I made some grub for everyone that was delicious and some bloody marys and screwdrivers. We grabbed the shuttle across the street which is always a fun time-- they provide beer and blast party music! Got some hurricanes, watched the parade, and then watched Joe Dirt. No good stories really and it was so cold, we really didn't even see any flashers this year. I'm sure the guys were disappointed in a boobie-less mardi gras. We eventually came back here and ordered pizza, which never tasted so good before because we were starving! All in all, fun day....however, I now have a killer sore throat so I think standing outside in that stupid weather is the culprit! Here are some pics:

Dress shopping will continue

So I got some more wedding dress appointments set....woo-hoo! I've attached pics below of the dresses I found the first day that I liked. Obviously these are not pics of me since the pics were never taken...haha. It's weird cause the ones I liked the best on, I like the least in the pics...and vice versa. Anyways, I'm excited to keep hunting! Although I should have my butt at the gym now instead of blogging....I gained a few pounds from the holidays and haven't been good about exercising this month
.

I'm so hungry right now and all I can think about is food. One of our favorite meals now is to make these Chicken Pitas-- they are sooooo good and easy. I buy gyros or thick pitas. I cook chicken breast with onions and garlic in a pan that then go in there. We top with lettuce, more red onion, cucumber, tomato, and dill. Then I mix plain fat free yogurt with some lemon juice, grated garlic, and dill to top it off. Curly fries go well with this meal :) Yum-o as my idol rachel ray would say! Time for dinner now...

Weekend Update

It's been a while and I have no excuse cause all I've been busy doing is being LAZY! Friday night we did go to Casa Gallardo for happy hour and it was sooooooooo delicious. Then everyone went home, but Dustin, Missy, and I ventured to the Old Rock House to see an old favorite band of ours Pomeroy. It....was.....awesome! First, this bar is really my kind of place so I'm so excited to go back. There was a basement that felt like you were down in an old cellar and very cool feeling. Then you have the main floor that has the stage area. Then you have an upstairs which was really nice-- had leather chairs to sit in and candles on all the tables and another bar up here. The balcony area up here then overlooked onto the stage, which is where we went for the second part of the show. My friend Derek that used to work at Mississippi Nights is now working at this place too, so was nice to catch up with him! Pomeroy was really energetic and just a great show...even though they didn't bring their usual break dancers. Here's a few pics and a really awful one of me.

Then Saturday was valentine's day and I guess we are officially an old, boring couple. This is the first year there was no flowers, cards, gifts, or any planned activity. We played video games all day and then decided we were probably the only people wanting to go eat dinner without a reservation...so we went to BARcelona and sat in the bar area and it worked out perfectly! Then came home and watched a movie. Real snoozefest, but we enjoyed it.

Tonight I get to see the Bachelor (Jason ) narrow it down to 2. I am so obsessed over this show...and Jason. I'm hoping he gets rid of Molly, but am thinking he could get rid of Melissa based on some of the clips I saw. Just as long as he doesn't get rid of Jillian I'll be happy. Also have Heroes and 24 tonight...and Gossip Girl if that is new. Sheesh- too much tv!

Wedding Dress Hunt

So, I haven't been super excited to go look for dresses and I think part of it I was worried that everything was just going to look stupid and I wasn't going to like anything. I decided to suck it up and go try it on Saturday with my mom. Well, the style that I always found in magazines I liked ended up being the ones I liked best on me so overall it was a big success!! Now I just gotta line up stuff at like 10 more stores to keep looking. Anyways, for any one that knows my mom, this will be very amusing. I think all my ditziness completely comes from her. So at both stores we took pictures of me in the dresses I ended up liking-- probably about 8 dresses total. I gave her my camera to use and get home to load the pictures and it says the card is empty. I'm so confused how it could be empty, but think- maybe it saved somehow to internal memory and not on the card. Can't find pictures anywhere. So then I think about how the flash never was going off when she took the pictures and she tells me the picture never would appear on the back screen when she took them. So I ask her to demo taking the picture and all she did was hold the button half way so it focused, then she just let go!!!!! Luckily I just think it's funny and now we have a good story to tell or memory of the day. So, no pics to share of the day....next time I'll make sure to have a good photographer on hand!

Wedding bookings and to dos

I just realized that I did not update my blog with the fact that....drumroll please....we finally got the photographer booked!! It was between Jeremy Lawson and Brandi Brown...and we ended up going with Jeremy, so hopefully that was the right decision! We loved them both and I liked Jeremy's work a tad more and Dustin liked Brandi's a little more...I decided that I won that battle since I care more about the pics! I just LOVE his work, so as my sister keeps telling me, I shouldn't be so excited over this because I've built it up like I'm going to have the best wedding pics ever and she's afraid i'm going to be disappointed because my standards are too high. We'll see! His site is http://www.jeremylawsonphotography.com/.

And while I was on a roll this month, I also booked Bridal Horizons as my day of coordinator. I think this will be money WELL spent because they will run the rehearsal and just make sure everything goes smoothly the day of and such. I haven't met with them in person yet, but they were really nice on the phone and I've heard wonderful things about them....so looking forward to that!

Next up gotta get the officiant and band/dj booked and I think I want some string instruments for the ceremony...although that just seems like a lot of money for some music I'm probably going to be too crazed to even hear or remember. And the cake and my dress and to decide we are doing a wedding party. Those are goals for this month....that's a lot, but think I should be able to do all that (except maybe having a decision on a dress).

Since dustin and i both LOVE video games, especially nintendo, would it be appropriate to do wedding cupcakes set up like this?

Brenda Warner- Did she or didn't she?

So as we start watching the Super Bowl, Dustin brings up if anybody has seen Brenda and how she looks like she is 30 years old! So we were waiting all game to see her....and I think all our jaws dropped when we did! Anyways, Dustin and maybe some others were insisting she had "$2 million" worth of plastic surgery. The girls were saying that she just grew her hair out and dyed it and that has made that big of a difference. So I did some research on the internet today and obviously everyone is buzzing about her new look. She has denied in interviews that she had any plastic surgery, but it's just that her hair is different. She has to get it dyed every 3 weeks, FYI. So I found some pics of her and cropped out her face to see if I could notice a difference. Can you tell which is the new brenda and which the old? My conclusion is she had no work done. I think she had a naturally pretty face before, but was just overshadowed by her awful hair and clothing choice!

Can you tell the difference?

I HEART TARGET!

So I just ran in there on a whim Sunday afternoon and I perused those "random crap" bins when you first come in. Low and behold- they had these gift bags that exactly matched my wedding inspiration board! So, I paused for like 5 seconds deciding if I should buy these or not and decided to-- I figure I have 90 days to return them, so I just bought all 26 they had in stock! I figure if I go with this design for our wedding, then they'll work for like out of town gift bags or something...and worse comes to worse, then for the next 10 years I'll be giving people gifts in these bags! Anyways, I really need to decide on colors and a theme in the next month or so, so that way I can start accumulating random crap like this!

Feeling Adventurous

I know I have LOTS to do before planning the honeymoon, but its just something for now that we throw around ideas for. We both are in agreement that we want to mainly just relax and probably do an all-inclusive place. I had done research last year on the Virgin Island area because we were all set to do a cruise there, then switched last minute to Hawaii. St. Lucia is supposed to be very beautiful and I decided it was definitely a place I want to go someday. So far I haven't found any great all-inclusives there though, but thought it would be a good combo of doing some sightseeing and some relaxing. Now I've found this place there that just seems like I MUST experience it! I think we'd just do like 2 nights here though and then go to an all-inclusive. It has open air rooms-- so there is no 4th wall. Each room has a private infinity pool too and just breathtaking views. I just think it would be a neat experience! Here are some pics from other peoples vacations that I found.

Anyways, for any one that knows me this does not seem like me-- but I've been researching what other people say about the insects, lizards, birds, etc. and they don't seem too bad. Squirt guns are even provided for you to shoot at the birds and people say they really work. I'll probably just go through 10 times the amt of water than a normal person because don't want anything within 20 ft of me. Oh, that just makes me think-- maybe I should bring a Super Soaker water gun with me!!! For those that don't know-- those were a big hit back in my Jr. High era and will shoot water real far! Up to 50 ft- now this is my kind of animal repellent!
